Connemara ponies for sale

The Connemara is Ireland's native pony and a favourite for ambitious families: athletic, brave and a natural jumper, yet blessed with a kind, sensible temperament that sets it apart from many taller performance ponies. Standing up to 14.2hh (and sometimes a little over, since the breed standard allows some latitude), Connemaras are superb Pony Club, working hunter, show jumping, eventing and dressage ponies that can also carry a small adult, which makes them a genuinely useful family investment as children grow.

With real ability comes a pony that generally suits a rider who can already walk, trot, canter and jump with some confidence, rather than an absolute first-timer — a Connemara with scope and a willing attitude can be more pony than a nervous beginner needs. A good one is a competitive partner your child can realistically grow up and win on, and because the breed is well established with an active studbook, buying a registered Connemara gives you real information about breeding and bloodlines to work from.

Connemaras carry real value in our sample: asking prices ranged roughly £6,250–£12,000 through the middle half of the market, with a typical asking price around £10,000 (based on 16 adverts, read 6 August 2026). These are asking prices from other UK marketplaces, not confirmed sale prices, and a young, unproven Connemara can be found for considerably less than a produced, competition-proven one.
