Gloucestershire means the Cotswolds, and the Cotswolds means serious money and serious hunting — the Beaufort country runs through here, and the area around Tetbury and Cirencester is about as smart an equestrian address as England has. Ponies produced in this part of the county often carry real hunting or showing pedigree, and prices reflect it.
That is only half the county, though. The Severn Vale and the Forest of Dean, to the west, are quite different — more affordable, more agricultural, with grazing that has nothing to do with Cotswolds stone and everything to do with practical family keeping. If Cotswolds prices put you off, it is well worth searching the western half of the same county rather than assuming "Gloucestershire" means one price bracket.

Yes, particularly the Cotswolds side — the Beaufort country runs through here, and ponies with genuine hunting experience are relatively easy to find.
It is worth it. The Cotswolds and the Severn Vale/Forest of Dean sides of Gloucestershire are genuinely different markets, and comparing both widens your realistic choice.
