Surrey is one of the most professionalised pony counties in the country — the Surrey Hills and the belt around Guildford, Dorking and Godalming support a dense network of competition yards, showing producers and Pony Club branches, so it is genuinely realistic to find a pony with a proper record here. For a family wanting something already schooled, competed and polished, Surrey is a strong hunting ground.
That professionalism comes at London-commuter prices. Grazing is expensive and scarce, most ponies are on full livery rather than a private field, and you are often paying as much for the yard and the schooling behind a pony as for the animal itself. Ask directly what a pony has done competitively and where it has been produced — a genuine record from a known Surrey yard carries real weight, but be wary of vague claims that cannot be checked.

London-commuter land prices push up grazing and livery costs across the county, and much of what you pay for is the professional schooling and competition record behind the pony.
Ask for specific shows, results or the producer's name, and search for them independently if you can. A genuine record from a known Surrey yard is verifiable — vague claims are not.
