Warwickshire sits centrally in England and has long punched above its weight in equestrian terms — Stoneleigh Park, near Kenilworth, was for decades a major national showground and equestrian events venue, and that legacy has left the county with excellent facilities and a genuinely knowledgeable horse community. Shakespeare country to the south is gentler, more traditional farmland.
Good motorway access (M40, M42, M6) makes Warwickshire an easy county to search from a wide area, and its central position means it is a sensible place to widen into from almost anywhere in the Midlands. Prices sit in the middle ground — not cheap, but well short of the south-east — and the range of pony types is broad, from produced showing and eventing ponies to simpler family all-rounders.
